An exoplanets interactive exhibition for Tycho Brahe Planetarium in Copenhagen.
A new challenge was set upon our team during the spring semester: to design an exhibition based on the statement “We are looking out. We are traveling out. We are moving out.” This as a way for Tycho Brahe Planetarium to motivateyoung visitors to pursue the scientific path in their education to respond to the lack of professionals in the field of science.
Our initial design consisted of 4 stations exhibition with 3 touch screens and a tangible input device, which allowed a simultaneous multiplayer experience in order to foster collaboration. The stations aim to depict the process that scientists go through in order to find an exoplanet.
Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, we implemented an online version of the 4 stations.
The team: 6 Medialogy MA students from Aalborg University Copenhagen.
I was Art director, designer and producer of all graphic assets and GUI design. Additionally I decided to explore the areas of UX/UI design. By doing so, I worked in the wireframing and prototyping of Station 4.
I did research on testing methodologies for museum applications and usability testing. Designing the online product testing and usability testing.
Remote implementation during COVID-19
In order to help the developers in the implementation of graphic assets and GUI in Unity, I developed graphic storyboards and tutorials, so they could easily make small adjustments to the UI template I created in Unity. This gave us the opportunity to work faster and be able to stick to our original pre-pandemic schedule, without compromising testing iterations nor quality of the tested prototypes.
